Flashback – AT99 – March 21

3/21 Campsite N of Franklin. Last night I wrote “PLEASE NO RAIN” in my journal.   It started to rain as soon as I closed my eyes.  Happy Spring.  Had I gone to the next shelter, I could have beaten the rain.  But, better for my knee.  5:30 am.  Dark.   No food.  Wet tent….

Got my PCT permit, starting May 14 in Campo. Due to high amounts of snow, my current plan is to play it by ear, but probably flip to Canada once I hit Kennedy Meadows. Gearwise, I’ll probably swap raingear for something more packable, and I’m looking for a pack, somewhere between my flimsy GoLite Pinnacle…

Trip Report – Parker Woodland

I’ve spent the past few weekends rambling in the Parker Woodland Audubon preserve here in western RI.   There’s 2 great things about it, in addition to being a short drive: no dogs, and no hunting.  It’s perfect for going off trail and doing a little bushwhack practice.
