Are you still on the trail?
Yes.
Doing blog stuff has become onerous, the mobile interface is clunky, and my fingers are too fat to use the phone keyboard well. Voice to text is a crap shoot. We’ll see what happens in Colorado.
Follow @edthesmokebeard on Instagram if you want pictures. Hint: its amazing out here.

I’m in Lander WY, similarly stalled/washed up like driftwood at a river bend like in 2022. the city park is still great free camping with the other Travellers. At least I know the town, and the laundry and showers are excellent this time around. There’s a definite end-of-summer feel, like the last week before going back to school. Maybe the longer shadows? Nobody’s here, all the northbounders have passed through, and the southbounders have all raced ahead.
The plan is to get to Monarch Pass in Colorado via hitch via Salida via bus via Denver via bus via Rawlins via … somehow, likely a 2 hour hitch. Then it’s a mere 217 miles of hiking until the “golden spike” at the Squaw Valley cutoff abput 50 miles from Wolf Creek Pass/ Pagosa Springs.
Thanks for following along! When I have a real keyboard I’ll post a lot more of Wyoming.
Example of its awesomeness:
